    Conference Information

    Welcome to ATX! Get your passport stamped as you participate in the Southern/Northern Regional Conference.

    Located in Central Texas, Austin is the 11th-most populous city in the United States and the fourth-most populous city in Texas. It is the fastest growing of the largest 50 US cities. Across 2nd Street from Austin's City Hall is the new ACL Live @ the Moody Theatre where the long-running PBS program Austin City Limits is filmed. The annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Music, Film and Interactive Festival is located in downtown Austin and includes one of the world's largest music festivals.

    As your conference host, TABC is here to show you what we love about Austin. We will host a conference with

    1. An engaging business agenda designed to keep everyone’s attention;
    2. Entertainment and activities so participants can have fun at their own pace; and,
    3. A Saloon (hospitality suite) available for fun and networking.

    The theme is “Passport to ATX.” But the business agenda is geared toward exploring the opposing forces of Regulation and Innovation. Featured presentations include influencing legislation to improve regulatory practices, alcohol tourism, imports/exports, enforcement, and much more!

    But don’t expect a traditional conference where the panelists do all the talking. We have developed an agenda that includes breakout sessions, facilitated discussions, and brief TED Talk-style presentations. You will be encouraged to actively participate!

    Welcome to the Austin City Limits, where the Welcome Reception overlooks Ladybird Lake and the Congress Street Bridge, the hot spot for the world-famous Austin Bats. As the Live Music Capitol of the World you can expect live music at the Welcome Reception. The banquet Tuesday night will be held at the historical Austin Club – of course with live music.

    Monday evening is a free night to explore Austin on your own. Perhaps you would like to take advantage of Austin entertainment, restaurants and festive nightlife available on 6th Street, in the trendy Warehouse District, or South Congress (SoCo) all within walking distance of the hotel. For a true Austin experience, you can register (additional charge) for a Riverboat Cruise to watch the bat colony take flight at dusk.

    Each evening you can head over to the Saloon (hospitality suite) for snacks or a drink and mingle with longtime friends or new acquaintances.

    We hope the planned events will give you a real sense of what Keeps Austin Weird – a unique mixture of 70’s hippie culture (think Willie Nelson), urban chic, eclectic style, and outdoor adventure. Come early or stay a few extra days to explore our city - there’s something for everyone!

    Registration Information

    Early conference registration ends Sunday, September 11th so don’t delay! The registration fee increases $50.00 starting Monday, September 12th.

    You have the option of paying by credit card or check. The registration fees are outlined below.

    Registration Fees:

    • State Member = $425 ($475 after September 11th)
    • State Member (NCSLA Travel Subsidy Program) = Fee Waived

    ATTIRE: Attire for all scheduled business and social functions is business casual with the exception of the Banquet which is formal (suit/coat and tie for men; resort attire/dress for women). The average high/low temperatures in Austin are 90°/ 67° F so be sure to pack for hot, sunny weather!
